Behind every chapter sits something most readers will never see: thousands upon thousands of pages of raw, archived material generated during the original experiment — recordings, transcripts, and notes the people involved never expected the public to read. This series is our attempt to curate that archive into something coherent. Not everything makes it to the page. Not everything can.
